To enroll your child in the program, you just need to ask your child’s teacher. The program is free of charge and is available to any child who can benefit from it.

Nourish is currently in 23 schools in the SD79, please inquire with your child’s school Principal or Vice-Principal. You can request your school to join the program if your child needs food support.

All you need to do to add your child to the weekend grocery bag program is to request it from your child’s school and they will notify us.

Yes, Nourish has a very strong open-door policy. No child should be refused a meal by a school staff member

Nourish Cowichan has many funding streams.

Until 2023 most of our funding came from community fundraisers, corporate and private donors, and grant applications.

This past year we also started getting provincial government funding, more specifically the Feeding Future funding & BC Community Gaming Grant.

For the 2023/2024 school year, we expect the program to surpass $1,000,000.00 in expenses.

Currently, Nourish has 3 full-time positions and 2 part-time positions.

From kitchen helpers, gardeners, cleaners, drivers and grocery bag packing. We have a diversity of tasks that volunteers can do to support the program.

All the volunteers are required to have a Vulnerable Screen criminal record check and Food-Safe certification if working in the kitchen.

Our volunteers come from all walks of life, the traits we look for are selfless altruistic people, a great sense of humour, a good understanding of our principles towards school food programs and helping with respect and dignity.
